Peschiera del Garda is one of the most characteristic towns of Lake Garda: it overlooks the lower Veronese shore of the lake at the point where the waters of the Garda River flow into the Mincio effluent and is completely surrounded by canals.
In fact, the historic center of Peschiera del Garda is bordered by walls named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, which modified the natural course of the river.

The first settlements date back to the Bronze Age (typical artifacts have been found: arrowheads, swords, etc.). In Roman times Peschiera became an important center: there is evidence of Pliny the Elder and the name Peschiera. In order to facilitate connections, in addition to the natural route of the lake and the Mincio River that allowed rapid communication to the city of Mantua in the Roman era was built, the so-called Gallic Way that connected Bergamo and Brescia to Verona, touching precisely the junction of Peschiera del Garda.
